went to work today with my sister. i emptied my purse last night [offering plus buying planet shakers shirts. kinda expensive] so i told her to bring money for the bus ride.
got to southlands and suddenly i remember something. did you bring money for the bus trip back? i asked her. she looked at me for a while. hey, i'm new at this bus thing. you can't expect me to know this stuff. i turn to her. what? if you take the bus here you have to take the bus back, stupid. how can you not know that? forgive my harsh words there. come on, what would you do if you had no money to go back home after working to lunch? duh~ you'd be concerned about dying of starvation. pft, stupid question.
start praying that you'll see someone you know, she says. i start praying that i'll see someone, ANYONE, so that i can - and i hate doing this - borrow money. 10 minutes till my shift starts. i walk from woolworths to coles without seeing anyone i know. 5 minutes till shift starts. nope, no luck. 3 minutes, NOTHING NADA ZILCH. all the time i am praying that by some miracle, we'll find a way back. thing is, while i was muttering insults at my sister, i actually didn't really worry. i dunno why. my stomach was of course, feeling slightly nauseous at the thought of missing a meal, but that's besides the point.
2 minutes and i'm about to head up the escalator. SUDDENLY, i see a blonde head of hair. nothing wrong with that, but it was a FAMILIAR blonde head of hair. SALLY COOPER, HERO OF THE DAY. thank you Lord. so i asked if i could borrow a dollar [i'll pay you back when i see you again, i won't forget, thank you thank you etc etc]. no, God has a sense of humour for sure. he has to humble me by dragging me upstairs to sally's mum cause she doesn't have money on her. and her WHOLE FAMILY is sitting up there and i have to apologize to her mum for the trouble and i thank them profusely while the uncles and aunties chuckle discreetly.
point being, prayer really works. i'm reading this book on shortest but most effective prayers now. it's kinda true. except some of the other things i've been praying for havent come through yet. oh well. they'll happen in His time.
