i didn't go to youth last night.
instead, i had to do my duty as a proud student of Rossmoyne Senior High to bring glory to the school!!!
ok, so i spent 3 hours of my friday night doing maths with over 200 other high school students. how fulfilling.
every year, MAWA holds a maths competition for high school students. it's divided into upper school and lower school. i went for the lower school one [obviously]. it's a team thing, and each team has 2 year 8s, 2 year 9s, and 2 year 10s.
rossmoyne sends two teams every year. team 1 and team 2 [go figure]. i am always on team 2, i.e. the team that always comes behind team 1. and for the three years that i have been, team 2 has come 2 places behind team 1. 2004 rossy 1 came 1st, rossy 2 came 3rd behind wesley college. we actually tied, but they handed their tiebreaker seconds before us so they got it.
so we've got something against wesley.
2005 rossy 1 came 4th and rossy 2 came 6th. we didn't place. first year in a long long time we didn't place. ah well. rohan didn't go that year, which explains a lot. he's like, the backbone of the whole competition. even in year 8 i swear he was the smartest one there. but i'm never grouped with him, so there's nobody to cancel out my uselessness. wesley didn't show up.
this year, we went and first thing i noticed was that wesley's name was on the board. gives me a goal. yi xing was team captain. and we had a really noisy little kid as well. i started checking out the other teams. as in, trying to see what they're like, not the other kind of checking out.
there are certain schools with really cruddy looking kids. you see the tables with all boys, and all girls and you immediately know they're the really competitive private schools. you see teams with school uniform on and you scoff at them cause we're wearing street clothes. you see private schools with FULL UNIFORM and they're all wearing their collared shirts and blazers and they shiny black shoes. and you sigh~ cause it's so sad.
i also saw people that i sort of know. i always do. this year, i saw jeremy's sister. i can't spell her name. but i know she's smart and she's from willeton. they sat near us. i saw some girl that looked really familiar and i couldn't figure it out. then someone goes "abbey" and i remember her from pics. matt's sister abbey. then i saw [and this was the funniest of all] that really smart kid from friends' night on saturday. the one that led group 1 to victory. justin? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
i made my predictions. rossmoyne team 1 will place [cause they got rohan]. the school with the most full-on uniform will place [i.e. full uniform private school complete with hanky in pocket]. and the team with justin will place.
we started round one and we breezed through it. 7 out of 8 points. nobody got full marks so we were feeling pretty good about ourselves. round two was... how should i put it?... abysmal. we were all over the place and the noisy kid didn't stop talking. we handed it in, and i'm like "shit, i know the answer. we wrote the wrong one". but oh well.
came back from half-time break to find that rossmoyne team 1 got 4 in round 2, and rossy 2 got 0. GO US!!!we actually found that really funny. but we got pissed off when the answers were revealed and we wrote the right one but didn't get any marks. i should know, i calculated it. should've argued it.
round three was awesome. 7 out of 8 again. you gotta ask yourselves, what's wrong with us. 7, 0, 7. how can we get a 0 between two 7s. ah well. we were in eighth place by then with 14 points. all saints led with 17. rossy 1 had 16.
no worries. final round we thought we got 4 points for total of 18. means we didn't place. we didn't care. but we knew rossy 1 placed. so the standings were announced. 2 teams tied for second, so it was a tiebreak decider. willeton lost and they placed 3rd with 22. GUESS WHAT? it was the team with justin, the smart kid. prediction #1 scores. second place, also on 22, was rossmoyne 1. ROCK ON!! prediction #2 scores. first place went to all saints, on 23 points. they went up. FULL UNIFORM WITH SHINY BLACK SHOES!!! prediction #3 scores. how great am i?
we checked the scoreboard to see how bad we were. i saw lots of teams on 19 points. and i kept pushing our standing back because we got 18, right. so we figured we're around... 9, 10th place? not bad. top ten. nobody got 20, or 21 points. it was all just 19. so we're like, 18's not too bad. wesley got 17 SO GO SUCK ON THAT[sorry, nothing personal]. then our score came up........ 19!!! WOOHOO!!! you know what this means? we're not 10th place. WE'RE TIED FOR EQUAL 4TH!!! with about six other schools. but we're equal FOURTH. we're not too shabby after all.
we also came 2 places behind rossmoyne 1.
the curse continues.

damn you public schools, always dissing ho-
oh hey Kim XDDDD
Bahhh i knew that the team from Wesley wouldn't score at all this year, we had gay people in it (seriously XD) Justin AAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA proness man. Go Justin.
Aiyo kim tsk tsk. Well actually top 10 aint bad at all =\, Go Kim!!! So proud of you =) yea that's right, i'm going for a Rossy team over a Wesley team? Why? because there's this guy in the team called Crosby, and i dont like him. . . He called me gay.
Anyway, well done!! Keep up the good work, and oh, by the way, check out the senior scores ;)
seeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaa
p.s wait, dont, i just figured, we have a gay person in the senior team as well. no chance.
seeing justin totally cracked me up. it was sort of like "HAHAHA, THAT'S HIM." and "OH MAN, WE'RE GONNA LOSE" at the same time.
it was funnier still seeing him go "YEAH" and throw his hands in the air when their team was announced.
and i didn't see where wesley sat, which was a shame. what happens when a private school wins and has to walk past all the public schools? all the kids whisper "gay gay gay gay" as they pass. which is kinda evil.
don't wanna check it.
you shouldnt have fed that little redhead dude teh jalepeno jelly bean... that probably distorted his brain a bit and therefore caused him to not be able to think properly which therefore caused you guys a 0 in round 2... think about that... feel the guilt... jkjk.. luv ya,, xD
well done kim... on your predictions i mean. ever tried betting on horses? :p
disappointed. didn't place kim. tsk tsk :P I have a feeling your birthday is like really soon. So happy birthday.
bit slow there, esther. birthday was last wednesday. thanks anyway.
