lost quarter pounders

this is the end-of-holidays post. meaning i'm gonna try cram my last two weeks into one blog post.

Friday, 14th April
Good Friday service at church.

Sunday, 16th April
Easter Sunday service, combined, i think. no badminton.

Tuesday, 18th April
watched Ice Age 2 at Garden City with a bunch of people from youth. had waffles at Gelare before the movie. so nice. it was good fun.

watched March of the Penguins at night with Jane and Andrew. that was soooo good. call me a nerd or a geek or whatever. i know it was good.

Thursday, 20th April
Played basketball at school with a bunch of people. couldn't take any of the guys on because they were just too scarily good. ended up playing a few games of one-on-one with May instead. she kicked my ass.

Friday, 21st April
Youth. questions and answers night. some really interesting things came up. [e.g. why are Adam and Eve always painted as white people. why not chinese?]. i've never thought of it like that before.

Sunday, 23rd April
Church, then lunch at Taurus BBQ. FREE SOUP. had the pepper beef ho fun. it was good. more expensive than at Taurus [the original] though.

Badminton afterwards. everytime i team up for doubles with esther, we end up losing, but having A LOT of fun in the process. after losing every point, we're like "it's ok, we're doing fine. we can catch up." one time after we'd reassured ourselves, i asked "what's the score". jess said "14-1".

"IT'S OK, WE CAN CATCH UP. NO WORRIES MATE!!"

Wednesday, 26th April
ICE SKATING IS THE FUNNEST THING IN THE WORLD. well, almost. went with Jess, Sam, Suleen, Tiffany, Joe, PS, RIck, Andrew, Sean and... yeah. only sam, jess, suleen and joe could actually skate properly by the end of the night, i think. the rest of us... not so great.

i came 3rd when it came to falling down. sean was 2nd. 1st place went to... TIFFANY!! i actually fell down and did the splits trying to help her up one time. but sean definitely wins 1st place for coming closest to killing kim. let me just say, having 145 pounds of accelerating sean smash a 5'3" kim into the wall [twice] is not exactly a painless experience.i forgive him, tho, cause he prevented me from falling a few times. he also said sorry. many times. many many times.

this is also the day of the lost quarter pounders [and small fries and a dog]. after ice skating we went to rachel's for maccas. but when PS and richard came back, we found out that there were missing burgers and fries, and a missing happy meal dog. THE INDIGNITY OF IT. we couldn't get the rest of the stuff, tho, cause the shop had closed [it was kinda late]. sigh...

Thursday, 27th April
went to harbour town with jess, may, will and moey. ate a lot of vegetables that day. didn't buy much = didn't spend a lot of money XD. did way too much walking tho, especially after ice skating. we got a bit sidetracked, cause we wanted to eat at Taka first, but ended up walking in the wrong direction [HEY, the map was not scaled, or something, ok?]

Friday, 28th April
Care group at Joe's place. had KFC/Macdonalds with bubble tea. we took orders for the food and then were dispatched in groups to go get the different things. i went to order the bubble tea.

girl: hi. what would you like?
me: umm.. i have a list..
girl: oh, ok. OH, WOW. hehehe....

yeah, 10 bubble teas on that list. after eating we had some memory verse activities, courtesy of Jane. then we played Taboo. if you don't know what it's like, well, you're divided into teams, and one person from each team picks a card from the pile. on the card, there's a word that the person has to describe, and the rest of the team has to guess it. here's the thing, there's also a list of words that are 'taboo'. you can't use them to describe the word to your team members. e.g. if the word is kim, you're not allowed to say stupid, short, greedy, ugly, or retard. you have to say "midget who enjoys food and says dumb things". get it?

then we played Twister. man, we had so much fun. sarah and wen are so good at it. the rest of us cheated a little. at one point, joe said "kavan's violating like, every rule at once" cause he was just lying on the mat from end to end. we were really tired after that, but it was really fun.

Sunday, 30th April
Went to church. Auntie Kim had a really good message about God's grace and unconditional love. the "boy band" performed 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon'. it was really nice. rachel KJ played piano, Loony on the guitar. Jono had the egg shaker thing while he sang. there was a shortage of mics, and poor sean had to share. in the middle of the song, just before his solo bit he made a grab for ben's mic, but ben wouldn't have it. kept pointing to jono's, so sean was a bit... all over the place.

no badminton cause there weren't any courts booked. we went over to Joe's instead. guess what we did? we played TWISTER. we're so addicted to it. i also showed Joe how to get the manual focus working on his camera. then we went to parkwood to play basketball and rollerblade. joe and suleen totally killed me, sam and jess. but rollerblading. geez, it's worse than ice skating for me. i used to be able to do it. but not anymore. the rest of them had to help me, and i nearly dragged jess down when we were going up a slope. then i couldn't figure out how to sit down with the blades on, so i just plonked my butt down on the court. didn't hurt me much, but everyone else was like "OOOH. ARE YOU ALRIGHT??"

i really need to get pictures and videos off joe. ones from ice skating on wednesday, and ones from care group on friday.

things i've learnt this holiday:
1) penguins are smarter than humans
2) Adam and Eve COULD BE Chinese
3) you can't win a badminton match when you're down 14-1
4) don't skate next to sean
5) you never know what's gonna happen when you work with james
6) alex can speak!!
7) don't let jess cross the road by herself
8) happy meal dogs are damn cute
9) i am not good at Twister
10) you shouldn't play it with sore limbs
