wanting simple

I'm well aware that everything
Is a far cry from all right
I'm well aware that all of us
Can at times, be too uptight
And possibly, the remedy
Is a dose of apathy
You point your finger at you
I'll point mine right back at me
Relient K, Apathetic Way To Be

Mr. Leong is 19

19 years ago, the world met Andrew.

But it wasn't ready.

It still isn't.

The world is not ready for the phenomenon that is,
Mr. Andrew Leong.

And judging by that picture, I don't think it ever will be.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to my favourite taller-than-me, definitely dark, and handsomer-than-thou Leong cousin.

Big hearts.
I'm still trying to figure out why it's "like that la".

what would you do if i took those words away?

my friend just sent me some music that he wrote a while ago. it's only the music; a few chords thrown together; vary, and repeat.

there are no words to go with it.

and it strikes me that sometimes, you do not need the words. for all the emphasis we put on communication through speech, writing, and print, there are things that you just can't express with words,
some feelings, thoughts, experiences, moments where words are just inadequate, almost ridiculous in their inability to do justice to the immensity of the moment.

sometimes, all you have to do is sit and listen,
or take someone's hand,
or run around the backyard a few times,
scream with the wind,
close your eyes,
dance in the rain,
soak up the sun,
open your heart,
capture a smile,
remember a laugh,

and just be silent.

because sometimes, it's more than words could ever say.

It's almost 1:30 and I'm still up because I fail to "save as I work".

And Murphy's Law strikes again.

Tonight has not been my night.

[edit]
i feel so frustrated now because you think that this is the kind of thing that people make up as an excuse when they haven't completed their assignment. it never occurs to you that you could spend all that time painstakingly making up results for experiments you haven't done, which is actually harder than actually having DONE the stupid thing, and then you finish... you hit SAVE and microsoft word decides to do quite the opposite.
And what's worse is that you know you SHOULD HAVE saved as you went along. now all i have left is one third of my report, which is theory that i summarised from my textbook anyway.
fantastic.

ten reasons why i still love you

...after 16 years under the same roof.

10. You're cool by association.
She-whom-I-am-referring-to has been circled with an ugly brown heart. Just in case you really couldn't tell who's who.
And yes Joy, I am implying you are cool.

9. You're sho tall.
Because that makes you easier to bulldoze over.
There's a bright side to everything :)

8. And it's okay. I used to be longer than you.
Keywords: used to be. I had my time.
Notice the datestamp on this.

7. You wash my school uniform for me, and all my socks.
This means a lot to me. Really.
Don't worry, though. My turn to wash next round :)

6. Kids with funny looking feet need to band together to fight off all the bullies.
Enough said.

5. You make me laugh.
All the time.
How can anyone not love that?

4. You love ice kacang, but you know I don't like red beans and corn, so you don't stir and preserve a bean-less, corn-less "domain" for me.
I heart you... ice kacang.
But not as much as I heart my sister.

3. I know that you used to be cute.
10 years ago when you turned 6. You were such a bad egg (sorry, direct chinese translation) back then. Nice to see that nothing's changed.
Oklah. Still cute.

2. I don't need a reason. I have no reason.
This is 8 minutes into your 16th birthday. I'm liking them PJs.

and finally...
1. Because you ma sistah.
And we cool like that.

Happy 16th Birthday.
Be good, now.

Experiment 38

This is what they place into the hands of immature 16/17 year old Chemistry students who have nothing better to do except see what makes what blow up.

Harmful in contact with skin. Toxic if swallowed. Very toxic by inhalation. In case of accident or if taken, seek medical advice.

We laughed when we saw that one.

We didn't when we saw this one.

May cause cancer by inhalation.
May cause heritable genetic damage.

......

Cancer.
Great.
Heritable genetic damage.
Fantastic.

And it's all by inhalation.

That, kids, is why breathing can be so dangerous.

lardeedarh

I am still sore all over from that little bit of running around I did at basketball on Saturday. It hurts to walk. This must be how old people feel, except every time I go "ouch", I get this deep sense of satisfaction. Yeah, that's right. I'm aching from EXERCISE.

The basketball was great fun. Had an awesome time doing the Esther-wave on court, and even more cheering for everyone. IMC owned all (in my eyes). Great job, soldiers!

Lesson #4546 in winning at school:
If you have not finished doing your homework, do NOT do it in the class of that particular subject, on the day that it is due. It screams "I AM GUILTY". Instead, pretend you have everything under control and hope like hell the teacher forgets. Importantly, do not fear. If he/she actually remembers and decides to check - i.e. the "who has NOT done their homework" situation - be the first to put up your hand.
The others will follow.
I promise.

And it's your lucky day, because you get a double dose!

Lesson #3265 in winning at school:
If you are feeling extremely sleepy in class while the teacher is explaining something on the board, frown a little. If you're lucky, your teacher will think that you know something that they don't and out of pride, will not question you. At the very least, they will think you are just a little slow, but hey, at least you're making the effort. They will not tell you off.
Don't ask me why, but it works.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, do the eyes-closed, book-on-table, look-like-you're-deep-in-thought thing, no matter how awesome a trick you think it is. Teachers know this little tactic. They do it all the time when they're "marking the year 9 tests".

I used #3265 today. Except I think my Physics teacher knew I was sleepy, but he assumed I was still making the effort to understand him.
Importantly, I didn't get told off.
So there we go.

I really should study for my test and EPW tomorrow.
Time to go.

this is a high school musical moment

The TEE marks the end of our schooling days; the end of strange school uniforms; the end of smelly classrooms.
When the TEE is over, we will no longer have to worry about how many Cs we need to achieve to graduate, whether or not 52% gives you a pass in English, or whether Newton-Raphson was made to torture, or bore.

The TEE seems scary and horrible and you-just-don't-want-it-to-happen; but we cannot wait until it is over. When we finish our last paper, we'll be happy. We'll smile, and laugh, and burn our books. We can smell how close we are to blissful lack of brain activity.

But we're also beginning to realise something else.

How are we going to get used to not seeing each other everyday?

We don't all talk to each other everyday; some days, we don't even see each other. But we know that we're all around... somewhere.

We don't know why we all hang out together, why we do things together, why we even LIKE each other. We just do.
And as much as we actually kind of enjoy the holidays when we don't have to see each other all the time, suddenly, the fact that we're all going in very different directions hits us and we realise...

Well, we'll just have to find another way to get in each others' faces now, won't we?

Speaking of getting in your face...

This is the result of an experiment to prove just how lousy I am at taking pictures of myself. I couldn't even fit my whole head into the frame.

Nicole did a lot better than I did. At least you can see both eyes.

But this one takes the cake. I like :)

Ohhhh yeah. The school fees are going a really long way.

Yesterday, we felt sad knowing that our mass stupidity could only last for three more months.
Today, we forget about it, because we have three more months. And we're all still in it.

We'll look back at this photo one day and remember what great idiots we were.
But we'll know we were all idiots together.

We'll know, we were all together.
